What can I help with?
Creative Director
I create and shape bold cultural experiences, major events and creative concepts.
That might mean developing the overarching creative vision for an event, imagining how a place can come alive, creating a cultural program around a major sporting event, designing an experience that connects communities, or bringing together artists, producers and partners around one powerful idea.
I can work from the very beginning — when the brief is little more than “we want this to be extraordinary” — through to helping shape the creative team, narrative, experience and pathway to delivery.
YOU MIGHT ENGAGE ME TO:
Develop a creative or cultural vision
Conceive a major event or experience
Create a cultural program around a place or event
Build the narrative and creative framework for a project
Identify collaborators, artists and creative partners
Help turn an ambitious idea into something people can actually deliver
Arts & Culture Strategist
I help organisations think differently about the role creativity and culture can play.
Arts and culture are not simply entertainment. They can build identity, belonging, participation, economic activity, pride, reputation and connection to place.
I work with government, organisations, businesses and communities to identify opportunities, develop cultural strategies and think about how creativity can contribute to much bigger objectives.
That can include the creative industries, place, tourism, major events, community engagement, organisational culture and the way a city, region or organisation tells its story.
YOU MIGHT ENGAGE ME TO:
Develop an arts or cultural strategy
Identify opportunities across the creative industries
Shape cultural or creative policy thinking
Develop strategies for community participation and engagement
Connect cultural activity with tourism, place and economic objectives
Map stakeholders, ecosystems and potential partnerships
Help build the case for investment in creativity and culture
Speaker
I speak about creativity, leadership, entrepreneurship, culture, courage and what music and elite sport can teach us about people and performance.
My aim is not simply to entertain a room. I want people to leave thinking differently — about themselves, their organisation and what might be possible.
I use stories from an unconventional career spanning professional music, entrepreneurship, leadership, business and sport to make complex ideas human, memorable and useful.
TOPICS INCLUDE:
Creativity and creative confidence
Leadership and high-performing teams
Challenging conventional thinking
Entrepreneurship and making ideas happen
What orchestras can teach us about organisations
What coxing can teach us about leadership
Courage, resilience and navigating an unconventional career
I also facilitate conversations, panels and workshops where curiosity, energy and an ability to connect ideas and people matter.
Advisor
Sometimes you don’t need another report. You need someone who can see the opportunity, ask the uncomfortable question, connect the dots and help work out what to do next.
I advise organisations and individuals on ideas, projects and opportunities where creativity, strategy, people and execution intersect.
I bring an unusual combination of creative thinking, commercial experience, networks and practical experience building organisations, productions, partnerships and projects.
Depending on the challenge, I may act as a sounding board, strategic advisor, connector, provocateur or practical problem-solver.
YOU MIGHT ENGAGE ME TO:
Test or develop an ambitious idea
Provide independent strategic advice
Help define the opportunity before investing heavily in it
Identify the people or partners needed to move something forward
Challenge assumptions and uncover blind spots
Help navigate stakeholder relationships
Turn a complex idea into a clear course of action
NOT SURE WHAT YOU NEED?
That’s completely fine.
Many of the most interesting projects don’t fit neatly into one box. A cultural strategy can become an event. An event can need stakeholder strategy. An advisory conversation can turn into a creative brief.
If you have an opportunity, a problem or an idea you think could become something extraordinary, start there.
Tell me what you’re trying to make happen.
